MEMO or Tag (Destination Tag, Payment ID) — is a special digital identifier, necessary for the correct routing of cryptocurrency transfers. It is most often used when sending assets to wallets of centralized exchanges and large platforms, where many users share one common address. Without specifying this unique code, the exchange simply will not be able to determine which client your funds should be credited to.
Ignoring the MEMO field when transferring to an exchange wallet can lead to a serious delay in crediting or even loss of cryptocurrency assets. If you are withdrawing funds to your personal non-custodial wallet (for example, Trust Wallet, MetaMask or Ledger hardware), you do not need to specify MEMO or Tag. In such cases, when creating an exchange request in the Monetkins service, you can safely leave this field empty.
Always carefully check the requirements of the receiving party before initiating a transaction to avoid unforeseen complications. Our system automatically warns about the need to fill in this field for those cryptocurrencies where it is mandatory, for example, XRP, XLM, EOS or TON. If you accidentally forgot to specify a tag, immediately contact our round-the-clock support service.
Compliance with these simple rules guarantees a safe, fast and error-free exchange of your digital assets on the Monetkins platform.
